Carl Carlton ist ein Musiker von internationalem Rang. Als Gitarrist, Songwriter und Produzent arbeitete er bereits mit Robert Palmer, Eric Burdon, Joe Cocker oder Paul Young zusammen, um nur einige aus einer langen Liste zu nennen. Seit Jahrzehnten begleitet er zudem die erfolgreichsten deutschen Rockmusiker Peter Maffay, Udo Lindenberg und Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Vielen Musikliebhabern ist er aber vor allem durch seine Band Carl Carlton & The Songdogs bekannt.

Am 13. September erscheint nun eine Retrospektive dieses profilierten Künstlers und seiner genialen Band. Unter dem Titel “Lifelong Guarantee – The Best Of Carl Carlton & The Songdogs” (Staages Music/Vertrieb: Cargo) werden ein prall gefülltes Vinyl-Box-Set, eine umfangreiche Doppel-CD, eine Sammler-Vinyl-Single sowie ein digitales Komplett-Paket veröffentlicht.

Das auf 500 Stück limitierte und nummerierte Box-Set enthält insgesamt vier Vinyl-LPs im 180 Gramm-Format mit 35 Songs und individuell gestalteten LP-Covern. Das umfangreiche, mit unveröffentlichen Fotos ausgestattete Booklet offeriert neben verschiedenen Vorworten Carl Carltons persönliche und bisher unveröffentlichten Einblicke in die Entstehung aller Songs, die zudem von Fred Kevorkian in New York vollständig neu re-mastered wurden. Die auch separat erscheinende Doppel-CD sowie die ebenfalls einzeln veröffentlichte 7″-Vinyl-Single mit dem Amnesty International-Jubliäums-Song “Toast To Freedom” und einem Cover des Buffalo Springfield-Hits “For What It’s Worth” auf der B-Seite werden auch in diesem Set enthalten sein. Ein von allen fünf aktuellen Songdogs-Mitgliedern hand-signiertes Foto, ein neuer laminierter Tourpass, zwei Gitarren-Plektren sowie ein Schlüsselanhänger des berühmten New Yorker “Chelsea Hotel” mit der Nummer jenes Zimmers, in dem Carl Carlton einige seiner bedeutendsten Songs geschrieben hat, runden die Box ab. Nicht zu vergessen, die Download Card für das gesamte digitale Song-Paket.

Mit seinen Platten und Konzerten sorgte Carl Carlton immer wieder für Furore, ob als Solist oder eben mit seiner Roots-Rock-Formation Carl Carlton & The Songdogs. Zu deren wechselnder Besetzung gehörten unter anderem Musikergrößen wie Eric Burdon, Robert Palmer, Drummer Levon Helm und Organist Garth Hudson von The Band, Steely Dans Donald Fagen, Rolling Stones-Saxofonist Bobby Keys, Slide-Gitarren-Innovator Sonny Landreth, Moses Mo und Wyzard von Mother’s Finest, Faces-/Stones-Keyboarder Ian McLagan, der 5. Beatle Klaus Voormann, Blues-Genius Keb’ Mo’, Soul-Man Xavier Naidoo oder der Multi-Instrumentalist Larry Campbell. Die Formation veröffentlichte vier von der Kritik hochgelobte Alben.

Zur aktuellen Band zählen neben den Mother´s Finest-Musikern Moses Mo (Gitarre) und Wyzard (Bass) noch Schlagzeuger Bertram Engel und Keyboarder Pascal Kravetz. Im Herbst 2019 gehen Carl Carlton & The Songdogs in dieser originalen Kernbesetzung auf Tournee – 20 Jahre nach ihrer Gründung und zehn Jahre nach ihrer letzten Tournee. „Reunion On Revolution Avenue“ lautet das Motto der 23 Konzerte in Deutschland, Österreich und den Niederlanden. Denn, wie Carl Carlton selbst sagt: „Wozu wäre all das gut, wenn wir unsere Musik nicht auf die Bühne bringen und mit unserem Publikum zusammen zelebrieren würden? Das Publikum ist genauso wichtig wie die Band und die Songs“.

Carl Carlton is an acclaimed artist of international renown. As a guitarist, songwriter, and producer, he has worked with artists such as Robert Palmer, Eric Burdon, Joe Cocker and Paul Young, Jimmy Barnes – just to mention a few from a very long list. Since decades, he also accompanied some of the most successful German rock musicians like Peter Maffay, Udo Lindenberg and Marius Müller-Westernhagen. However, for many dedicated music aficionados, he is best known for his solo work and his band Carl Carlton & the Songdogs.

Now on September 13^th 2019, a long overdue retrospective of Carlton and his brilliant band will be released. Lifelong Guarantee – The Best Of Carl Carlton & The Songdogs is a jam-packed 4 LP Vinyl Box Set that includes also an extensive double CD, a collectors vinyl single, plus a full digital download song-package.

The box set, which is numbered and limited to 500 copies, includes four 180g vinyl LPs with 35 songs and new, individually designed LP covers. The extensive booklet features previously unpublished photographs and forewords by Levon Helm, Klaus Voormann, Larry Campbell et al. plus personal, never before published stories and insights into the origins of the songs and band history, personally written by Carl Carlton. All music has been remastered by Fred Kevorkian at Kevorkian Mastering, New York. Also included you find a double CD, as well as a 7” vinyl of the Amnesty International 50^th Anniversary song “Toast To Freedom” plus a cover version of the Buffalo Springfield masterpiece For What It’s Worth featuring Eric Burdon (items are separately available online). The set furthermore includes a photo signed by all five original members of The Songdogs, a laminated tour pass, two guitar picks, and a New York Chelsea Hotel key tag of room #614, in which Carl Carlton wrote some of his most significant songs over the last 4 decades. Last but not least you will find a mandatory download code for the full digital song package (38 songs).

Founded in 1999, after only ten years, four excellent albums and riveting tours, it came as a surprise that the much-celebrated Songdogs disbanded friendly in tacit understanding, each member following their individual musical calls. But finally, and not entirely unexpected in 2019, encouraged by friends and fans who kept on calling for a band reunion,

Carlton happily gave it a go – a new start. Twenty years after the first song blasted out of the giant speakers at Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana, the Songdogs are back with a vengeance in the original line-up!
Band members are: Carl Carlton – lead vocals, guitar, Moses Mo – guitar, Jerry “Wyzard” Seay – bass, Bertram Engel – drums and Pascal Kravetz on keyboards.

In fall of 2019, Carl Carlton and The Songdogs will celebrate their reunion with 23 concerts across Europe. As Carl Carlton says himself: “What good would all this be if we didn’t take our music to the stage and “rock-and-roll it” together with our audience? The audience is just as important as the band and the songs themselves.”
