| TURBONEGRO | EXIT REBELLION
After 19 years in the service, time has come to announce that I will be retiring from Turbonegro, playing my last concert with the band Saturday Oct. 27 at Folken in Stavanger.
The decision was made this Summer, realizing I hadn't had time off at all from work or touring for three years. I will continue to be involved with the band on the management side of things, as well as running Turbonegro's record label Scandinavian Leather Recordings. This will also give me time to put more effort into my day job at Universal, where I now have been given the opportunity to set up my own label.
Leaving on a high note in the band's career, on the back of a very successful US-tour and even having a full on biography out in Norway, I would like to thank everybody we worked with through the years and made all of this possible. Special thanks to my band mates of course, for sharing the music and the best years of my life.
And last but not least, a big hug to Turbojugends everywhere, you're the best fans in the world!
Oslo, Oct 26th 2007

| | LYDIA LASKA | Norwegian punk rockers LYDIA LASKA have released the video for their song "Love and Penetration", a track taken from their latest release "We're Nothing Compared To Ourselves". Providing guest vocals on the track are Emil Nikolaisen (SERENA MANEESH) and former MAYHEM frontman Maniac (SKITLIV). Watch the clip below.
Directed by the band and Thomas Lunde of Trøbbel Film, "Love and Penetration" will be aired on Norwegian television, unlike the band's previous clip for "White Trash Attack" which was reportedly "banned." In fact, the station has asked to be the first to broadcast it. Commented drummer Voldswagen: "We're not really sure when it's due to go out, and most probably we won't know when it has gone out unless someone tells us. The band don't actually have TVs!"
LYDIA LASKA, notorious for its stage performances, will be taking a break from live appearances for the rest of the year to give cross-dressing frontman Candy Whorehole a chance to enter rehab. The band will, however, continue to concentrate on promoting "We're Nothing Compared To Ourselves" and preparing for the new album which promises to be even more grim and strange than their previous releases.
Both "Love and Penetration" and the banned "White Trash Attack" together with tracks from the new release can be found on the band's MySpace page.
| | COHEED & CAMBRIA Chris Pennie | Former THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN Drummer Launches RETURN TO EARTH - Oct. 27, 2007
Emerging modern rock band RETURN TO EARTH, featuring ex-THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and current COHEED AND CAMBRIA drummer Chris Pennie, will release its debut album, "Captains of Industry", on December 4 via Bald Freak Music.
"I'm thrilled to be working with Chris in both a musical and official capacity," said Bald Freak Music's Director of A&R Ron Scalzo, who is also the lead singer for RETURN TO EARTH. "We look forward to putting this out to the masses, and hopefully more albums to follow."
"Captains of Industry" was mixed and mastered by GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and will be distributed nationally to in-store retailers and online music vendors such as Amazon.com, CD Baby and iTunes.
RETURN TO EARTH is Pennie's first official side project after taking the reins behind the drums for COHEED AND CAMBRIA earlier this year.
Guitarist Brett Aveni fills out RETURN TO EARTH's three-piece lineup.
Drawing from the pantheon of influential acts like MUSE, NINE INCH NAILS, FOO FIGHTERS and QUEEN, RETURN TO EARTH creates hard rock music comprised of rich and dynamic vocal harmonies, catchy guitar hooks, and a back beat provided by Pennie's groundbreaking drum style.

| | THE HELLACOPTERS | Sweden's THE HELLACOPTERS — the band fronted by former ENTOMBED drummer Nicke Andersson (on guitar/vocals) — has issued the following update:
"After nearly thirteen years as THE HELLACOPTERS we're now sad to tell you that we are breaking up. The reasons behind this very difficult decision are many and too personal to go into here.
"Playing in a rock and roll band isn't always a walk in the park, but thanks to all of you who rocked out with us at sweaty clubs, rainy festivals or at home by the stereo throughout the years, it's been a fantastic trip. We'll never forget your support.
"We recently finished mixing our seventh and last studio album and it'll be released early next year, according to initial plans. We feel like we wanna say one last goodbye to you and throw in the towel with a bang, so we're aiming to do a farewell tour through Europe and Scandinavia sometime in the spring. So you're not getting rid of us just yet."
The HELLACOPTERS will please their Fans with a last album and Tour:
"Psychout Records will release the new and final album "Head Off" on April 18th of the Hellacopters. The first single will be out on March 20th."
But good news for all Hellacopters Fans: before the band finally quits, they will play some festivals this summer and their final tour in autumn.
| | NICK OLIVERI interview | KTVU.com recently conducted an interview with MONDO GENERATOR frontman Nick Oliveri (also ex-KYUSS, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
KTVU.com: I was reading that you ended up doing only a handful of dates on the Ozzfest tour before dropping out. What happened?
Nick Oliveri: Well we dropped off because we couldn't afford to stay on to be honest with you. This year it was free for the crowd, which was a great thing, but essentially the bands were playing for free too and we just couldn't afford to do that. It didn't make any sense for us to do that. We're not kids anymore; we've all got our rent and our bills to pay, you know? I needed to pay the guys in the band, so I cut my losses short. It was fun while we were on. We had a great time doing what we did. I don't know if we were the right kind of metal for the crowd…
KTVU.com: You definitely seemed to be far and away the furthest on the punk end of the spectrum…
Nick Oliveri: Absolutely.
KTVU.com: So it wasn't anything that happened with the band that forced you to leave?
Nick Oliveri: No no, not at all.
KTVU.com: A version of the latest album came out a while back in the UK, but it took a while for the domestic release of "Dead Planet" to come out in the states and it changed a little bit a few additional songs. What made for the delay between the two releases?
Nick Oliveri: I wasn't trying to shop a deal or anything. I paid for my record in its entirety, so a label in England offered to put it out and I said sure. I wasn't really looking for a label. That wasn't why I did the record. I was kind of down on record labels for a while after the QUEENS split. So I wasn't really looking for that. I was just looking to make a record for me and that's what I did. So that's what happened in the states; Suburban Noize came forward and said "Hey, we want to put this thing out." So I said sure. Their version has a few extra tracks. "Bloody Hammer", a Roky Erickson song, "There She Goes Again", and "Sleep the Lie Away".
KTVU.com: I know you're probably sick of this kind of question, so I'll apologize in advance, but to what extent to you keep up with what QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE are doing and if you had any opinions about their new record?
Nick Oliveri: Yeah, I picked up the new record. I bought the last two records from my old band. It's good. It's different. I don't know, it sounds weird in a way, to have to the brand name QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE on it. But its Josh's band, so he can take it in any old direction he wants to [laughs].
KTVU.com: To back up a little bit, I was kind of wondering if the changing support that you've had comes from the fluid band membership that QUEENS always used in terms of the people you work with? Have you pursued MONDO in the same way where you work with the people that fit with the direction you're currently going in?
Nick Oliveri: I'm just trying to keep a band together on no money [laughs]. I'm just starting from zero. QUEENS kind of had that brand name that we built on together. There's a lot of lawyer teams and management teams and all that stuff that goes with that band that's still there with the brand name. MONDO is back in the van and doing this real, working and humping our own gear and all that. So we're starting over as opposed to the fantasy of having people do it for you. That's the big difference. I don't really know if there's much comparison. You can't really compare two things that aren't coming from the same place. We're coming from a street level for sure. I think the songwriting comes from a different place and that people can relate to that.

| | FAVEZ | Favez LP number 6! This one is a leap forward for the band, biggest record they’ve done, so far.
Bigger Mountains Higher Flags mixes their numerous influences (from the dangerous Petty/Springsteen
axis to the Dead Kennedys/Hot Water Music whirlpool, and all the rock you can find in between) and is the fruit
of more work and passion than there ever was in this band. In the last few years, the songwriting has evolved
into what Australian producer Greg Wales enthusiastically calls “Classic Rock Punk Rock Infused”.
Desperate, epic, nostalgic as always, but with a new found grip on the Imaginary Southern Deserts and the Long
International Highways. This is the sound of a band slipping out of its teenage skin and keeping it real the adult way,
a bit of tough honesty on a road too often travelled by liars and cheats.

| | QOTSA / ARCTIC MONKEYS | Arctic Monkeys play shock support slot for QOTSA
Alex Turner reveals he wants to tour properly with Josh Homme's band
18.Sep.07 6:01pm
Arctic Monkeys played a shock hour-long support slot at a Queens Of The Stone Age gig in Houston, Texas yesterday (September 17).
With QOTSA's regular support bands Howlin' Blue and Dax Riggs not available for the gig at the Verizon Wireless Theatre, Alex Turner's troupe were able to play for an hour to a surprised crowd.
In tribute to the Sheffield group's performance, QOTSA front-man Josh Homme later changed some of the lyrics of his band's song, 'Feel Good Hit Of The Summer', quoting Arctic Monkeys' 'I Bet You Good Look Good On The Dance Floor'.
Turner was in a similarly playful mood during his own band's set, comparing one audience member to TV soap opera Coronations Street's Curly Watts.
After the show, Alex Turner revealed to NME.COM what an honour it was to be playing with his heroes Queens Of The Stone Age. He said: "I thoroughly enjoyed it! The Queens were amazing. It would be terrific to do a proper tour with them."
Homme was full of praise for the Arctic Monkeys, telling NME.COM: "Watching them play was my highlight of the whole night. They're a really great live band - they're like a tight little spring, you know? I didn't even get tipsy because I was too busy watching them play!" | | MTV Music Awards | FOO FIGHTERS have enlisted friends old and new to join them for a night of exclusive one-time-only 2007 "MTV Video Music Awards" performances.
