They finally did it: welcome to the re-launch of MONSTER MAGNET's new Website!!

Besides a Tourdiary, new Band pictures, updated tourdates, etc. there's NEWS from the upcoming album to read:

Hard rock legends Monster Magnet release their 8th album
this October on Napalm Records.

Magnet songwriter and front man, Dave Wyndorf, describes "Mastermind":

"It's a big, beefy ball of demented anthems and power rock." He says with enthusiasm.

"The music itself is exaggerated and muscular. Like classic rock gone insane! Giant hooks, giant sounds. The rockers are direct and intense. The ballads, trippy and strange. It's guitar heaven."

And the lyrics? Wyndorf laughs. "Well, the lyrics read like a fever-dream of life in the 21st century. Cynicism, optimism, satire, sex, deluded fantasies and dead-on reality. They're all here – sometimes even in the same song!"

"In my world, images, information and emotions tend to intertwine. I’ll describe the smallest details of my personal life in crazy, cinematic terms. When I write, the words play out in my mind like scenes from a movie and that's the vibe I tried to capture on "Mastermind" – rapid-fire emotion. What can I say? I'm having a weird life and I have to write it down that way."

"In the end though," says Dave, "Mastermind ROCKS, and that's what's most important."

"What do Nick Oliveri (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures), Happy Tom (Turbonegro) and Marc Diamond (The Dwarves) all have in common? Aside from the fact they all play in some of the best bands to ever grace the earth, they all feature on the brand new single from Los Angeles band Mondo Generator. The first taste of the new album from the band which is due for release in July, is the track ‘Dog Food’ which is set to be unleashed in May to coincde with the beginning of the bands upcoming tour (see Tourdates).

Over the last year, band founder Nick Oliveri and fellow member Hoss, alongside producer Bradley Cook have been working on Mondo Generator’s fourth full length album ‘Time To Destroy’. During the recording process they have enlisted a number of guests to make an appearance, ‘Dog Food’ is the first taste of who is featured on the album. With Marc Diamond on guitar duties, Happy Tom has laid down some bass tracks, while Dave Grohl provides the drum tracks and Nick Oliveri delivers his trade mark vocals."

Hervorgehend aus dem 2009 erschienen Buch "BURNING FIGHT: The Nineties Hardcore Revolution in Ethics, Politics, Spirit and Sound" von Brian Peterson, das sich mit der Historie des HC der 80er aber insbesondere mit der Bewegung der 90er beschäftigt ,starten Spermbirds und Youth Of Today dieses Jahr ihre gleichnamige Tour, die 2010 zum ersten Mal in Europa stattfindet.

Den Anfang machen die 1985 gegründeten YOUTH OF TODAY um den Frontmann RAY CAPPO. Co- Headliner sind die SPERMBIRDS. Die Band begann bereits in den frühen 80ern und war eine der ersten europäischen Bands, die Hardcore als schnellere Variante von Punkrock spielte. Anfang September erscheint außerdem ihr achtes Studioalbum „ A Columbus Feeling“ auf Rookie Records, das ihr hier bestellen könnt.

According to a ROLLING STONE Magazine article, Josh Homme plans to release a new QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE record in the middle of next year. "I have ideas already absolutely. It's all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of Era Vulgaris," Homme says.

In the meantime his schedule seems to be packed: After touring with THEM CROOKED VULTURES, his main band QOTSA will perform some shows celebrating the 10th anniversary of 2000's record "Rated R". The album is going to be re-released, featuring B-sides and live performances in august this year.

Plus Homme's pushing forward his own record label Rekords Rekords with Alain Johannes' debut "Spark" (date: 31st august).
